We are now at a point in technology where we can do everything online. That much is true. Gone are the days when going online is a chore, and only text-heavy sites are the ones that are easy to load. Today, connectivity is more important than ever, and as more and more smartphones are sold every day, the demand for doing everything on the Internet grows.
When you’re an office worker or a corporate type who has a one-up on PDF editing skills, this article is for you. When we said that you could do anything online these days, we mean that even PDF editing can be done anywhere, anytime – even when you’re away from your desktop computer! You just need a smartphone, the PDF file you want to edit, and an Internet connection! Here are some PDF edits you can do online:
Extract Pages on a Web Application
One of the more advanced edits you can do through the Internet is extract pages from the original file without affecting its integrity. The process, of course, can be easily done through a standalone software, but when you are out of the office, and the task is urgent, going online to do the edits makes the most sense.
One of the overlooked things about how to PDF extract is that most people think that it is an easy process. Extraction can be done in two ways: the first is to extract a PDF file from an existing one fully; the second, which is the most common edit that happens, is to extract selected pages from the source and create a separate file for it.
With online PDF browser-based applications, you can do that easily. PDF Bear, for example, has a suite of dedicated applications you can use to do this. From converting to protecting, even compressing, the site does it all. You’ll find there’s not a site that’s more comprehensive for PDF editing other than it.
Extraction
- Once you get to the PDF Bear’s site, access the interface for Extract Pages application. For reference, it should be beside the Protect PDF application.
- In the “Upload File” section, choose the file from your documents. Make sure that the file you are uploading is not password-protected. You can also drag and drop files from other parts of your desktop.
- Wait for the file to upload. When it finishes, you are asked whether to extract the whole PDF file or just a collection of selected pages.
- Extract pages, then start the process. Through this process, don’t go to another tab.
- Download the extracted file on your desktop or smartphone.
Converting Files to PDF and Vice-Versa
There will be times that you will be asked to convert MS Office files like Word, Excel, and Powerpoint to PDF before printing and publication. Or the more advanced option – PDF to these file formats. Fortunately for you, PDF Bear also has individual converters dedicated for this to be done completely online.
There are separate applications for every operation. Like with the instructions for extracting PDF pages, the most important thing to remember is uploading the file properly. Also, note that there are instances in converting PDF to MS Office based files that the resulting document might not be as editable as you would expect.
Takeaway
Advanced edits on PDF can be done online. That’s for sure. You just need to have the know-how of the resources that you’re getting yourself into. For most people, having a standalone software for this should do, but with more and more people connected to the Internet these days, it’s actually better and more prudent to just do everything online.
